Scholarship Description
Ashesi University's strong financial aid program demonstrates their commitment to a campus community that includes students from all economic backgrounds. Thus, the university makes a significant number of financial aid awards every year.
Currently, close to 40 percent of all Ashesi students receive need-based financial aid from the university, and to date, the university has awarded over $2 million in financial assistance to students who need it.
Through a grant from the MasterCard Foundation, over the next five years (2012-2017), Ashesi University will offer full scholarships to smart underprivileged students who wish to pursue their undergraduate education at Ashesi University located in Ghana. Half of these scholarships will be awarded to non-Ghanaians.
Eligibility
The scholarships are only available to students whose families are able to demonstrate financial need and who are doing well in their subjects. Scholarship recipients typically achieve As' and Bs' on their transcripts and on national exam results.
Eligible groups
Smart underprivileged students who wish to pursue their undergraduate education at Ashesi University located in Ghana.
Please note that for now, Ashesi has decided to focus international student recruiting to Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria. Specifically, Ashesi would like to recruit students in their final year of high school.

Currently, first degree programs in Business Administration, Computer Science and Management Information Systems. No postgraduate studies are offered at this time.

Scholarship benefits
The scholarship includes full tuition for four years, a free laptop, free meal plan, free accommodation on campus and transportation home during the summer months following the Sophomore year.
In addition to the MasterCard Foundation University Scholarships, Ashesi also awards partial tuition scholarships to students who can pay some but not all of the tuition fees.
Method of Application
To apply for a course of study at Ashesi University, you must download the course Application Instructions AND also the university Application Form. Read the Instructions carefully and apply to the school.
If you need financial aid, download and complete the Financial Aid Application Form (found on official website through link below).
Deliver the completed forms in person, or by mailing them to: Admissions Office; Ashesi University College; PMB CT 3, Cantonments; Accra, Ghana. Please note that Ashesi will not accept completed applications that are faxed or emailed to the admissions office. Application fee is GHS60.00 for Ghanaian nationals; $100.00 for International applicants.

DEADLINE:
The deadline decision dates for an Early Decision is 15th February 2013 AND for the Regular Decision is 31st July 2013.
From February until mid-August, the Ashesi Admissions team will review applications and make admission decisions. All interested students should endeavor to apply early, usually on or before 1st June, since most scholarships are awarded before June.
The semester for Freshmen begins in September.
PLEASE NOTE:
This scholarship opportunity is targeted at high schools and school heads/counselors are implored to encourage students who qualify to apply. Students who don’t qualify for financial aid are also welcome to apply for admission.
There is no limit to the number of students who can apply. However, the university has a goal of admitting 150 students every year. Currently, international students make up 10% of the student population. Ashesi has begun an aggressive international recruitment initiative to increase the number of non-Ghanaians attending the university to between 30%-50% by 2020.
